BetterMouse free instal1/15/2024 That said, Mouse Cursor is a pretty basic yet good-looking cursor. Note that the free trial only lasts 24 hours. But it does come with a free trial that you can try out before purchasing. Seriously, Logitech, if you can't write a driver that continues to function for more than three days at a time, you should outsource to somebody who can. Sporting a straightforward name, Mouse Cursor is the only entry on this list that you’ll have to pay for on the Microsoft Store. This is with a clean install on two different OSes over a period of months. It has reduced a fantastic piece of hardware to something that is maddeningly unpredictable. Only solution is to log out and back in.Ĭalling this frustrating is putting it mildly. Force quitting the process won't fix it, either. Open the Options, and everything is configured right, the driver has just decided to completely ignore your configuration. Suddenly scrolling will stop working until I turn it off and back on, or the back button will start doing the equivalent of option-click, or the Expose buttons will stop doing anything at all. Sometimes as often as once a day, and always within a week, the mouse will just start ignoring all Logitech configuration. except it is absolute garbage when it comes to stability, which is what really counts. Support? Regularly updated and actually supported 10.14 on day one! Interface? Beautiful and has a mix of ease of use and advanced features buried one level deep. If you like the preview and want to proceed with applying the mouse cursor scheme, click or tap on the OK button. In the Customize cursors list, you can see a preview of all the pointers used by that mouse cursor scheme. Features? Fantastic! It's incredibly customizable and has cool extras like Flow. Select the new custom mouse cursor scheme from the drop-down list at the top. But you know what? When they eventually got around to it, at least it usually worked correctly. (I found the registration information for the SciTech driver, they ended up putting it out for the beta as well and I had missed the memo).I used to lament Logitech Control Center because it was crusty-looking and took weeks or months to be updated to support new products or OSes. I did drop the speed on the mouse in the control panel applet and that is a bit better too but it still does the ghost mouse thing. I changed the virtualbox mouse setting from PS2 mouse to USB tablet, and that helped a little bit, but not enough to make a big enough difference. Version 1.5 Fixed a bug regarding ctrl-right-button-pan zoom. I did try installing it in a Windows XP VM I have, but the game crashes after the intro movie.so it looks like I'm stuck with Windows 95. AKA a ghost is moving the mouse.Īs you can imagine, in a point and click game this is quite intolerable. So it thinks I still have the button held down and moving the mouse. It will drag and keep moving and dragging even after I released the mouse button and took my hand off the mouse. it's amusing how many websites don't work.Īs for the mouse issue, I noticed it in the actual VM this morning while dragging a window. Does anyone know of a free display driver?īONUS: if anyone knows of a web browser that would support Win95, it would be hilarious to show off to my grandad.Ĭlick to expand.I wasn't able to use this one, but I did manage to get IE 5.5 installed (which is the last supported version of IE for win95). I tried buying the license, but the company is out of business and the last release they gave out the key, but it doesnt work on the beta version I have, and the previous version didn't have Windows 95 support. Is there a better mouse driver I could use to smooth it out?Īlso I am using a shareware display adapter driver.scitech display doctor. The mouse is quite laggy, and in the game the mouse is literally ALL OVER the place. I got the machine running 99%, I even have Windows 95 online (but web pages look quite horrible) for folder sharing. It's a low overhead point and click game (i thought my 50mhz 486 with 16mb of ram was too powerful for it, so its not power demanding). I'm setting up a Windows 95 virtual machine in Virtualbox to set my buddy up with so his kid can play an old school goosebumps game I have left over from when I was a kid and I had a 486.
